The Benchmade Adamas was designed as a tactical knife but can also be used for everyday carry and a variety of hard-use tasks. No matter what you throw at it, it will perform well in terms of sharpness, toughness, and edge retention.

Handle of The Benchmade Adamas

Our Benchmade Adamas review found The 275s handle to be Great. It fits well in the hand and has plenty of grip. A larger handle can be a big plus when using your knife for a while, as it can help with grip fatigue. The knife is also ambidextrous with a reversible pocket clip, a plus for lefties like me. Unless you have the palms of a giant, this knife should fit comfortably in your hand.

The Blade of The Benchmade Adamas

The 275 has a drop point blade a little shy of four inches, which is more than enough for an EDC knife. It is made of Cruware, which is an honestly great steel. Firstly, it has good edge retention, a must-have for me, but it is also easy to sharpen when needed. That combination is not as common as you might think, so I am a fan of Cruware. Unless you are dealing with a super corrosive environment, you can’t go far wrong with this steel type.

Lock System

The Benchmade 275 Adamas uses the AXIS lock system, which gives it a smooth action and makes it easy to close. It can also be opened with one hand, which is always useful. While I have never personally had any issues with the AXIS lock, some people do say it has weak Omega springs. Others, however, say that they have had no problems and that the springs can be replaced if needed.

Weight/Size

Now here’s the rub. The Benchmade 275 is a big boy for an EDC. This is not a knife you slip in your pocket and never notice. At almost 6.5 ounces, it is almost the weight of two smaller EDC knives. It is also going to require a bit more room in your pocket. There’s no doubt it can be used as an EDC, but it depends on what you’re looking for in your knife. If you find the weight and size off-putting, there is always the Benchmade mini 275, which will trim things down a bit.

Customer Feedback

Customers’ reviews of this knife have been very positive overall. Edge retention, sharpness from the box, build quality, and grip are all mentioned as big plusses. The only negative seemed to be that the clip might want to be a bit stronger for such a heavy knife.

Price

This is a high-end knife with a high-end price point. When considering the price, you should also consider the fact that you get the Lifesharp service with it. Lifesharp is a lifetime sharpening service on Benchmade knives. So, if you run into issues with your knife as it gets older, there is always the Lifesharp service to look into to see if they can help.

Benchmade Adamas Review Roundup

The Benchmade 275 is an all-around great knife. It is tough, durable, and up to any task. It is well made from good materials and fits well in your hand, even with extended use. The blade’s Cruware steel is excellent for sharpness and edge retention. The AXIS lock allows one-handed opening, has a smooth action, and is easy to close.

However, it is larger and heavier than many EDC knives. It also has a high price point if budget is a concern for you.
